Texas to see changes in dates, regulations for 2025-26 hunting season. Here’s what to know

The nights get cold and the autumn smell starts to stay in the air and moves at the beginning of autumn. But at the same time in another season – hunting season.

According to Texas Parks and Wildlife departmentThere are some changes for the 2025-26 hunting season that hunters should be aware of before entering the field.

Extended Digital License Options

According to TPWD, for the first time,NT will offer completely digital license options for all entertainment hunting, fishing and combo license and label types.

Changes for non -resident hunters

According to TPWDThe legislation increased the simplified license options for hunters who were not built in this spring in two license options.

Crocodile, wild turkey, pronghorn, bigorn sheep, mule deer and white -tailed deer, including any legal birds or game animals hoping to harvest the residents who hope to harvest a non -resident hunters will be required to purchase a non -established general hunting license.

Exotic animals, small game birds (except for wild turkey), non -game animals, fur animals, non -resident hunters who plan to target the squirrel and Javelina for five or less days will need to purchase a special 5 -day small game/exotic hunting license.

Regulation Changes

Some additional changes for the next hunting season include:

• For the wild turkeys in Hill County, the IH35E is now serving as the region border line.

• Lubbock County is now open to wild turkey hunting with the regulations of the northern region.

• The increase in the daily bag border for north pintails in all duck regions.

Season Date Changes

Avcılar should be aware of a few seasonal changes for 2025-26 hunting seasons before their first prey:

• The expansion of archery mule deer seasons in both Panhandle and Trans Pecos.

• New quail hunting season dates.

• Decrease in the sea blue season in September.

Master Deer Season:

• Only archery season:

  • Panhandle: 27 September – 21 November.

  • Trans-Pecos: 27 September-27 November.

  • Brewster, Pecos and Terrell districts: 27 September – 27 November.

• General Season:

  • Panhandle: November 22 – December 7.

  • Tran-Pecos: 28 November-14 December.

  • Brewster, Pecos and Terrell districts: November 28 – 14 December.

Quail season:

• Dates throughout the new state: 1 November 2025 – 28 February 2026.

Immigrant Game Bird Season:

• Teal:

  • The days fell into a period of time 20-28 September-wide compared to the previous year.
