Thailand and Cambodia agree ‘immediate ceasefire’ after days of deadly fighting as Trump is hailed for ‘decisive mediation’

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that Thai and Cambodia leaders agreed to make an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to end the border conflicts.
After the mediation in Malaysia, Ibrahim said: ‘Both Cambodia and Thailand reached a common understanding like the following: First, on 28 July 2025 at midnight, this night is an instant and unconditional ceasefire from the local time.’
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet praised US President Donald Trump for ‘stable mediation’ after the flaming border dispute last week.
Trump said he wanted to come in with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio last night and want America to end the conflict as soon as possible.
The tensions between Thailand and Cambodia were boiled after the killing of the Cambodian soldier during a short conflict in late May.
Both sides strengthened the border troops in the midst of a fully developed diplomatic crisis that brought the fragile coalition government of Thailand to the brink of collapse.
Trump said that he believed that he would like to solve their differences after both Thailand and Cambodia’s telephone conversation will not end trade agreements unless they finished the war unless they finish the war.

“We are not sure of ourselves in Cambodia, so that the actions of Cambodia reflect insincerity in solving the problem,” Thai Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayaachai said before leaving the journalists.
Cambodia violated international law, but everyone wants to see peace. Nobody wants to see violence affecting civilians. ‘
Cambodia strongly rejected Thailand’s charges of firing in civilian targets, rather than that, Thailand puts innocent lives at risk. He called on the international community to condemn Thailand’s aggression against him.
Even after the peace talks were announced, both sides reported clashes in the border areas on Monday.
Reuters journalists in the Sisaken state of Thailand encountered a village evacuated about 12 miles away from the border. Minced wood and twisted beams were the only thing left of a house of the artillery fire after the residents left.
The power lines dangled over the damaged house and dispersed by the wreckage road. The windows of the nearby houses were torn apart, broken glass broke up.
The area was largely abandoned, the random explosions of the distant artillery fire on a road with closed and restaurants closed and only military vehicles, tanks and nearby four -lane road pierced the scary silence.
