The 15 old DVDs you may own that are worth a small fortune | UK | News

If you have a pile of old DVDs gathering dust at home, it might be time to take a closer look. There are some titles that can be worth a surprising amount of money.

Although DVD sales have declined with the rise of streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, there is still a strong market for certain games, especially among collectors. According to the Liverpool Echo, some of your old discs can now sell for serious money.

Before the streaming boom, DVDs were a household staple. Although many people now consider them obsolete, there is a growing appreciation for physical media, especially rare editions or titles not easily found online.

One of the main reasons for this resurgence is that not every movie or TV show is watched via streaming.

For fans who want reliable access to their favorites, owning a hard copy is still appealing.

In a recent study, Bally Casino identified several DVDs that could be surprisingly valuable.

They worked with collectibles expert Tracy Martin to gain insight into what makes certain releases stand out and how to make the most of selling them.

Carry On Movie Collection ranks first as the movie worth the most money.

A full box set of films from the hit British comedy series can fetch around £350 on average.

Another high value item is the Monty Python and the Holy Grail Limited Edition Castle Box set, which can sell for up to £300.

Tracy says: “Collectible value can be due to rarity, variations of the norm, oddities (mispellings on DVD cases or books), nostalgia – people buying back memories, limited editions and basic supply and demand.

“There are many reasons why things are collectible. People don’t always realize they have valuable things, so they turn to those who do, like me, or do their own research online.

“Always do your research by looking at how much similar items have sold for in the past to ensure you are getting the best possible price for your collection.”

According to Tracy, one of the most important steps in selling your items is choosing the right platform and setting a realistic price from the beginning.

He added that CDs could be the next media format to grow in value, especially since vinyl is already hugely popular.

If you’ve got a forgotten DVD stash, now might be the time to appreciate it.
