Training begins for 115 newly-recruited Excise officers in Telangana

The first group of 115 newly recruited Tax officers, including Deputy Excise Inspectors (AES) and Excise Sub-Inspectors (SIS), started their six-month basic training at the Excise Academy on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

The batch includes 31 AES candidates selected through TSPSC Group-I examination and 84 SIS candidates recruited through Group-II. The trainees officially reported to the academy after certificate verification for recruits from both Warangal and Hyderabad districts.

All the newly appointed officers had received their appointment letters from Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy; this marked the official beginning of the state’s services under the Prohibition and Excise Department.

Prohibition and Excise Commissioner C. Hari Kiran directed that all new hires must undergo a comprehensive six-month training program designed to hone their administrative, field and practical abilities. The training will include modules on enforcement of excise law, intelligence gathering, operations management and coordination with other law enforcement agencies.

Of the 31 AES interns, eight are women and 23 are men, and of the 84 SIS interns, 24 are women and 60 are men, reflecting the increasing female representation within the department’s ranks.

The training is expected to play a key role in strengthening field operations, ensuring better enforcement of excise laws and equipping new officers with the practical and administrative skills they will need in their future roles, officials said.
