College protection committees to be established on all campuses

Kerala police issued a circular that announates the formation of college protection committees in all higher education institutions in the state.
Committees aim to increase drug addiction among young people, to overcome violence, cyber threats and anti-social activities, to provide immediate support in emergencies and to promote healthy cooperation between university administrations, students and police.
According to the Circular Police Chief, the committee will be chaired by the college manager and will be gathered by the station house officer (SHO). It will also include student representatives, ward members, PTA members and leading persons.
The Directorate of Social Police will be responsible for coordinating, managing and supervising the functioning of university protection committees. A committee will be established at the state level to monitor the activities of the committees. Panel, State Police Chief, Consumption Commissioner and University Education, Technical Education, Women and Child Development Departments will include the managers of the departments.
In addition, sub -committees will be established at the regional level under the supervision of the police chiefs. A region -wide WhatsApp group will also be created for the coordination and sharing of the best practices.
Committees will work to strengthen students and personnel, to prevent substance addiction, to address safety concerns and to carry out awareness campaigns on issues such as cyber security, substance abuse and mental health. They will also organize road safety awareness programs for women, disaster management training and self -defense programs.
The panels are also expected to provide a platform for students to inform the complaints without fear and find a timely solution.
