Busting the myths of Menzies and Whitlam

You don’t have to look far to find an Australian political thinker (or LinkedIn account) commemorates the names of Australia’s most legendary prime ministers, Robert Menzies and Gough Whitlam. Consider these recent examples:

‘We are going through politically troubled times… We will fight back, we will look back, we will take long views, we will muster our courage and activate our imagination. In this case we will win.’

These words could have been written yesterday by any member of my Liberal team, but they were still used by Liberal Party founder Robert Menzies in 1944.
