THE DARK money of the Election | The West Report

Newly released disclosures from the Australian Electoral Commission show major parties reported $417.2 million in donations and other income from 2024 to 25; That’s a 58.2 percent increase over post-2022 election figures, with $129.6 million, or about 31 percent, coming from undisclosed sources, a dark money problem that voters can only see after they vote.

We leave untraceable the biggest checkbooks, including major individual and corporate donors Gina Rinehart and Clive Palmer, and the roles of third-party campaigners such as Advance Australia, which reported revenues of $13.5 million while disclosing sources of only $5.2 million, as well as pro-climate fundraiser Climate 200 and its donor base, as well as approximately $8.3 million.

Political donations. Money won’t buy you happiness!
