The beautiful UK city is a popular attraction for tourists, but it really comes alive at Christmas and its festive market is said to be the ‘best’ in the country. December is a special time and the month of Christmas becomes even more magical as you wander the cobbled streets and admire the unique buildings in this special city in England.

Bath Christmas Market has been voted ‘Best in the UK’ in a survey conducted through ‘Europe’s Best Destinations’ in 2024. The city is already a great place to enjoy independent shops and of course the famous Roman Baths, but it’s also the perfect place to enjoy traditional festivities at Christmas time. Last December, visitors were “impressed by the lights, decorations and the incredibly talented musicians surrounded” by the city of Bath during its Christmas market.

Bath Christmas Market’s website reports that it has been voted ‘one of the Best Christmas Markets in Europe’ and ‘Best Christmas Market in the UK’ in 2024 through its Europe’s Best Destinations survey.

Bath Christmas Market website reads: “Located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Bath, among cobbled streets and historic landmarks such as Bath Abbey, the hotel offers a magical and romantic atmosphere.

“Visitors can enjoy festive cheer as they explore independent boutiques, designer shops and high street brands, making Bath a must-visit Christmas destination.”

You have plenty of time to plan your visit as Bath’s Christmas Market starts on Thursday 27 November and runs until Sunday 14 December 2025, as it is held in the city’s historic center and is free to attend.

Last year a couple reviewed their festive experience on TripAdvisor and wrote: “We loved the Bath market. It made us feel very Christmassy.”

“The 230 stalls offered so much choice, I would go later in the day when you have felt the full effect of the lights and had a warming mulled wine.”

Another enthusiastic reviewer said it was “the best place I’ve visited outside of Germany”, and the atmosphere was praised by many who visited in November and December 2024.

One impressed visitor who reviewed Bath’s Christmas market on TripAdvisor described it as “beautiful and not tacky like some Christmas markets”

They wrote: “It’s nice to see a real Christmas market with beautiful, diverse and quality products.

We traveled from near Walsall to the Bath area for a few nights and that really was the start of our Christmas.

“I loved the bagpipes and saxophonists playing music in different areas. Food and drinks were reasonably priced and there were clean caterers. It wasn’t completely full.”

“This was the nicest place we went to, we felt safe in the market and in the city, we loved the variety of stalls and the prices were reasonable although some were expensive but nice to look at, yes we would go again.”
