Ukraine proposes new round of peace talks with Russia next week | Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after he stopped in early June on Saturday, he proposed a new peace meeting next week.

In Istanbul, two rounds of interviews between Moscow and Kyiv could not make any progress for the ceasefire, but rather agreements to return the bodies of large -scale prisoner exchanges and killed soldiers.

“Secretary of the Security Council [Rustem] Umerov also reported that he proposed the next meeting with the Russian side next week. ”

“The momentum of negotiations should accelerate,” he added.

Zelenskyy reiterated that he was ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “There is a need for leadership to really ensure peace – permanent peace,” he said.

During the talks last month, Russia announced a list of harsh demands, including calls to reject all kinds of Western military support by Ukraine.

Kiev rejected them unacceptable, and then questioned Moscow’s more negotiation if he did not want to compromise.

Kremlin said that this month, Donald Trump was ready to continue negotiations with Ukraine after giving Russia a peace agreement or confronting it with sanctions.

The US President also promised Kiev to provide new military assistance supported by NATO allies, because he was subjected to Russian air strikes whose cities were constantly increasing.

Russian strikes in Ukraine claimed three more lives on Saturday.
