The incredible £460m new road connecting two major motorways | UK | News

In order to transform travel in the region, an important infrastructure project, known as the A417 missing connection in Gloucestershire, continues. The ambitious project stands as one of the most important way developments in Gloucestershire Over the years – to increase security, alleviate congestion and strengthen connections in the south of Midlands and England.

Authorities are building a new binary highway to build two basic highways bridges. The aim is to eliminate traffic bottlenecks and reduce the deterioration caused by the drivers taking shortcuts from local ways. A section known as “Missing Connection, means a three -mile single -lane road in the A417 between the Brockworth Bypass and Cowley junction in Gloucestershire.

In November 2022, the government approved a 460 million pounds of pounds in November 2022 to take its only existing highway by a new bilateral highway.

National Highways, A417/A419 is an important way to connect Gloucester and Swindon, and Midlands and the South M5 and M4’ten offers a way to avoids Bristol.

Part of the new route will follow the existing A417 corridor to the west of the air balloon junction, while the section in the south and east will take a completely new path by jumping the current path.

The schema also contains a new intersection to connect A417 to A436 with A436 and Oxford and Birdlip and the Cowley junction near Cowley.

In addition, the stretching of the existing A417 between the air balloon and Cowley intersections will be reused: some parts will become special ways for hikers, cyclists and horse drivers, and other sections will be kept to protect local access to residents.

However, the A417 in Gloucester will be closed for three weeks between the Air Balloon Doner Junction and the A429 Burford Doner Junction.

The A417 will be temporarily closed between Air Balloon Roundabout and A429 Burford Road Junction this summer. Planned Closes on Friday, July 25, Monday, July 28, on Friday, August 1 at 11:00 on Monday, August 4th and again on Friday, August 29 at 11:00 on Monday, September 1.

These closures are part of the ongoing improvement work and can affect the journey in the Gloucestershire region at that time.

National Highways Senior Project Manager Celine Acard said: “We are making good progress in the program, but in order to maintain the program, we need to use full closing in this section to facilitate the basic work in public services rooms.

“We fully appreciate that road closures may be annoying, but we cannot do the job when the road is open to traffic.

He said: “We planned to minimize the deterioration of exhibitions, we expect the drivers 25 minutes for the travel time, and in the meantime we thank people for their cooperation and patience, and we advise people to plan their ways and take some time for their journey.”
