Snow maps show 400-mile blizzard battering UK as 22 cities buried – full list | Weather | News

A massive snowstorm spanning 400 miles is on track to engulf the country, dumping heavy snow over vast areas. 26 cities across the country are expected to be affected, with the worst-hit areas covered by 130cm of snow.

The whole of Scotland is barely visible on weather maps and the entire country is covered in a massive wall of snow. Parts of Perth and Kinross are forecast to see an eye-watering 130cm of snow, while snow depths in surrounding areas are predicted to range between 20cm and 80cm.

Snow depths will reach 12cm in the Scottish Highlands, while Argyll and Bute will see between 10cm-11cm. Elsewhere, North Yorkshire will be the worst-hit part of England, with up to 19cm of snow likely.

Snow depths could reach up to 13cm in Cumbria, while Northumberland and Durham will see 9-10cm of snow.

Lancashire will also be badly hit, with 10cm of snow forecast, while the Midlands will see up to 4cm of snow.

Snow maps show North Wales will see the most amount of snow in Wales, with 5cm predicted. A dusting of snow was also visible in parts of south-west England.

Temperatures will drop below zero; Those in Perth and Kinross will want to brace themselves as the mercury drops to an icy -5C.

Temperatures in the rest of Scotland will range from 0 to -2 degrees. The coldest temperatures in England will be seen in Yorkshire and the Humber, with a forecast of -2C, while the north-east and north-west will see temperatures around -1C.

Devon and Cornwall will see the hottest temperatures in the country, around 4C-5C.
