AIADMK holds majority of Chennai district constituencies and faces DMK in 13 seats
With the opposition AIADMK holding a majority of Assembly constituencies in the Chennai district, the party will face the ruling DMK in a direct contest in 13 of the 16 seats.
AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday fielded a host of former state ministers, party senior officials and women to take over the DMK in Chennai, considered a DMK stronghold.
Former state ministers of the party: B Valarmathy and Gokula Indira would field DMK MLA N Ezhilan and party functionary N Chitrarasu from Thousand Lights and Anna Nagar constituencies respectively.
Porkodi, wife of slain BSP leader Armstrong, has been fielded from Thiru Vi Ka Nagar to contest DMK’s KS Ravichandran in this reserved constituency.
Party veterans P Santhanakrishnan and Aadhi Rajaram will take part in a direct contest with Chief Minister MK Stalin and Deputy Udhayanidhi in Kolathur and Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituencies respectively.
