Boy airlifted to hospital after Coolooloi Creek incident
A young boy was taken to hospital after being attacked by a dingo in K’gari, about 250 kilometers north of Brisbane.
The primary school-aged boy was walking on the beach with his grandfather near the popular Coolooloi Creek campsite on the southern tip of the island at around 2pm on Saturday when he was approached by the dingo.
The child, who suffered head injuries and bite injuries, was transported to Rainbow Beach by private vehicles and treated by paramedics there.

He was later taken by rescue helicopter to Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane and sent for further treatment in a stable condition.

At least four dingo attacks have been reported on K’gari, formerly Fraser Island, this year. Last in MayIt allegedly involved a nine-year-old boy being attacked near Yidney Rocks Beach Units before bystanders intervened and injured the dingo.
in April, A woman was bitten on the hand at the island’s Winnam campground when five dingoes approached him.
The Ministry of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation has warned that dingoes only need to feed once or find scraps to form a food association with humans or an area.
