The state of Taylor Swift’s friendship with Blake Lively revealed after singer released song about ‘cancelled’ pals

Taylor Swift has reportedly not spoken to former friend Blake Lively since their friendship soured due to the actress’ ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni.
‘They had no contact,’ a source said Page Six On Thursday, an insider was insisting that reports that Swift and Lively had a “low-key” tryst were untrue.
This comes after fans speculated that Lively was the subject of, or at least partial inspiration for, the song Canceled from Swift’s new album The Life Of A Showgirl.
In the song, the star croons: ‘Good thing I love it when my friends get cancelled, I love how they hide them with Gucci and scandal.’
The song suggests that their falling out was nothing more than a conclusion, but their broken friendship appears to continue after Lively dragged her once close friend into the legal drama.
But Page Six’s source also claimed that the former best friends did not speak for almost a year, and their last communication was in the winter of 2024.

Swift has since completed her Eras Tour and gotten engaged.
Another insider also confirmed the reports and told the news outlet that they had not spoken or seen each other but did not elaborate on the timeline.
Earlier this month, Lively made the first move to mend the rifts between them by giving her former friend an Instagram like on a post celebrating the release of her newest album.
This comes after Lively was reportedly touched by comments coming from Swift’s orbit.
Earlier this week, TMZ Swift’s fiancé claimed on Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast — in an episode from March 2024 that was mysteriously re-uploaded on Tuesday — that she was happy the Gossip Girl star called her “friend.”
Lively’s name came up while Kelce and her brother were looking at the actress’s 2005 hit Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants; Months before Lively and Swift had a falling out during the Justin Baldoni It Ends With Us feud.
That’s when the Kansas City Chiefs football star called Lively their “friend.”

The site’s source said the A-list bombshell was ‘stunned given her issues with Swift’ and was overall ‘pleasantly surprised by the comments’.
The Daily Mail reached out to Lively’s representative for comment but did not immediately hear back.
This comes after Lively hit the like button on one of Swift’s Instagram posts before she released her album The Life of a Showgirl.
Lively and Swift reportedly fell out after the actress got into a legal fight with her It Ends With Us co-star Baldoni.
Lively’s old texts were shared in which she describes herself as Khaleesi from Game of Thrones and mentions Swift, one of her dragons.
The text seemed like Lively had control over Swift, which probably rubbed the pop star the wrong way, but she never said a word publicly.
Also, Swift could have done this, but she didn’t disparage Lively on her new album; instead, he targeted Charli XCX and Kelce’s ex.
In September, it was claimed that Swift did not agree to be testified in the Justin Baldoni/Blake Lively case, but would do so if ‘forced’.

Blake, the singer’s onetime best friend, is suing co-star and director Baldoni for harassment and accusing him of creating a hostile work environment on set, which he has denied.
Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, said Swift ‘agreed to attend the deposition’ but could not do so until October 20 due to ‘Ms.’ Due to Swift’s pre-existing professional obligations, her lawyer stated that she ‘did not agree’ to testify and had ‘no financial role’ in the matter.
According to PEOPLE, his attorney, Doug Baldridge of Venable LLP, said he only learned about the request for a deposition from Baldoni’s team three days ago.
In a letter he said: ‘In addition, my client has not agreed to give evidence, but if he is forced to give evidence, we (after first hearing the evidence three days earlier) have advised him that his schedule will accommodate the time required during the week of 20 October if the parties can resolve their dispute.’
The case of Blake Lively v. Wayfarer Studios LLC et al. is scheduled for trial in March 2026, with all depositions expected to be completed by September 30.
This comes after it was decided in June that Baldoni’s legal team would be able to access messages between Lively and Swift.
TO! The News previously reported that the judge ruled that correspondence between Lively and Swift was ‘relevant’ to the case.
However, any correspondence between the two will be under a protective order to prevent it from being leaked to the press.
