Sarah Ferguson previously referred to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor as a “sad man” in a tell-all interview in 2024. The 66-year-old man, who was married to Andrew between 1986 and 1996, said he “will not let Andrew down” as allegations emerged about his past friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Describing how her late mother left her father for another man, Sarah later explained how she became his caretaker. Referring to her ex-husband, Sarah, who has been known to have lived with Andrew at the Royal Lodge since 2008, said: “When Jane went to Australia, I became my dad’s carer. I had to look after a sad man,” she added, “which is kind of what I’m doing now.”

Despite the reference, she spoke fondly of Andrew, adding: “I was completely and absolutely in love with Andrew. I would do it all over again, 100 percent. He is the best, a great guy with a great heart and kind.”

“Our wedding was the best day of my life. But that day I gave up my anonymity. I was able to do this because love conquers all. It is still with us today. I will not let her down.

“He supports me as much as I support him. He has supported me not only in marriage or divorce, but in good times and bad. We agree on the three Cs: communication, compromise, compassion.”

In addition to Andrew losing his royal titles and dignity in late October and early November 2024, Sarah was also stripped of her title as Duchess of York.

Due to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, many charities also cut ties with him.

This follows a resurfaced email from 2011 in which Sarah referred to Epstein as a “superior friend”.

Speaking in the same interview, Sarah’s sister Jane said: “Sarah and Andrew are the best divorced couple I know. They did this for their children; it’s incredible.”

“I came to stay at the Royal Lodge in May [2024] and Andrew and I went horseback riding to Windsor Castle. “It was nice to get back on the horse and wander around the grounds.”
