The VERY generous gift that hints at why 83-year-old Calvin Klein’s virile boyfriend, 37, stays with ailing fashion designer…amid videos suggesting trouble in paradise

Calvin Klein’s much-younger boyfriend bought an expensive home with cash despite having no job, as the couple’s extreme age-gap romance comes under scrutiny. 

Kevin Baker, 37, who has dated the 83-year-old fashion icon for at least a decade, purchased a spacious house in his home town of Spokane, Washington.

The four-bedroom, 2,434sqft newly built house in a quiet neighborhood was bought in Baker’s name without a mortgage for $739,000 in December 2021. It is now worth about $800,000.

Neighbors told the Daily Mail that Baker’s father Paul – who at 65 is 18 years younger than Kevin’s boyfriend – lives at the property with Kevin’s twin brother Joel. 

Meanwhile, Baker’s mother Debbie Baker, 63, suggested she remains in the dark about her son’s longstanding romance with the megastar designer. 

‘I don’t know anything about it,’ she said when contacted by the Daily Mail this week. 

Debbie spoke weeks after Baker was seen failing to help Klein or even look concerned after the octogenarian fashion icon was confused by camera flashes and stumbled while walking into an event at a New York City art gallery.

Baker and Klein keep their relationship very private and have never given any public indication of romantic discord.

He splurged $900,000 last March on a one bedroom condo in New York City’s Upper West Side that overlooks the Hudson River.

There is no record of the apartment being listed for rent and it may be used for putting up family and friends when they visit Baker in NYC. 

While perfectly pleasant, it is far below the ultra-luxurious standard Klein is accustomed to, raising questions about whether he has ever visited it. 

Klein owns hundreds of millions of dollars worth of property across New York, Florida, and California, including one property close to Baker’s pied-a-terre.

The frail-looking designer’s romance with his virile young partner has long raised eyebrows. Baker’s own grandmother Anadee Snyder, 81, is two years younger than Klein. 

How Baker acquired the cash to buy the two homes is unclear. He previously worked as a model but there are no records of him booking any high-profile jobs. 

He was mostly active in the 2010s, appearing in lesser-known magazines like Supplementaire and Homme Style – including some risqué shoots with his twin brother Joel.

Baker grew up in Spokane with his father Paul, 65, mother Debbie, 63, Joel, and his older sister Brittney, 40.

His parents – who are barely older than Klein’s daughter Marci, 58 – split years ago and Debbie moved about 80 miles north to Kettle Falls, Washington, where she is a real estate agent at Windermere.

The firm is owned by Debbie’s mother Anadee Snyder, who at 81 is two years younger than her grandson’s boyfriend.

Paul also works in real estate as an appraiser and was humiliated in 2018 when a client posted the recording of a heated phone call.

The client, Wade McLure, claimed Paul botched the valuation of his house and lowered it even more ‘out of spite’ when he complained.

Both of Paul’s homes that he shared with Debbie were foreclosed on after they refinanced numerous times, and his real estate business later shut down.

Baker appears to have stepped in to give his father a place to live by buying the brand new Spokane house, where Paul’s partner also lives.

‘I didn’t know them well, they took care of packages for us while we were on holiday and we did the same for them,’ a neighbor who recently moved away said. 

The neighbor said he saw Baker visit the property over the years, but never accompanied by Klein.

Baker’s twin Joel moved to Los Angeles with dreams of a lucrative modeling career alongside his brother, but was forced to return to Spokane and live in Baker’s house with his dad when work petered out.

Leaked Instagram posts showed he didn’t enjoy living in LA, which he called a ‘disgusting trash place, only good for rapings and assaults’.

‘Los Angeles is woke trash, prove me wrong,’ he wrote. Another post claimed he was attacked by ‘two black men’ a block from his home and another time had a firecracker thrown at his face.

‘F**k Hollywood, f**k LA, and especially f**k this disgusting trash woke movement and f**k BLM mother f**kers,’ he added.

Meanwhile, Brittney moved to Phoenix and married fitness coach and Air Force veteran Lawrence Middleton, until they divorced and she returned to Kettle Falls.

Klein and Baker have been an item since at least 2016, when they made their first official public appearance together at the American Ballet Theatre 2016 Fall Gala.

They were first spotted together in March 2016 at the Mint Luxury Conference in Mumbai, India, and at several other events of the following months. How they met is unclear.

Throughout 2017, they were spotted on a number of lavish vacations together, but keep a low profile and have never spoken about their relationship.

Klein has downsized his property empire in recent years, selling off luxury homes at massive profits including $85 million for one of his Hamptons estates.

He and Baker are now believed to be mainly based out of the designer’s stunning mansion in the Hollywood Hills, bought for $25 million in 2015, and his NYC penthouse.

Klein bought the top three floors of the luxury 15-storey tower at 146 Perry Street in the West Village 25 years ago, where both Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman lived in the floors below for several years.

Klein was previously married to Jayne Centre Klein (1964-1974), with whom he has a  daughter, and Kelly Rector (1986-2006).

He came out as bisexual in 2006 after his divorce from Rector, confirming a claim in an earlier biography.

Klein elaborated on his sexuality in an interview with Vanity Fair two years later, but has not discussed his romantic life since.

‘I’ve experienced – and I’ve said it before – a lot of my fantasies. I’ve experienced sex with men, with women,’ he said.

Klein then dated former pornstar Nick Gruber, who is the same age as Baker, from 2010 to 2012 after meeting through mutual friends.

Gruber, who grew up in the foster system in Florida while his mother served time in prison, moved into Klein’s $20 million Greenwich Village penthouse and had a $10,000-a-month allowance.

He helped Gruber get a job at a restaurant, introduced him to a modeling agent, threw him a star-studded 21st birthday bash with A-list stars, and even proposed marriage.

But Klein grew tired of Gruber’s hard partying and their relationship ended when the young man got arrested for assault and cocaine possession.

Gruber planned to write a tell-all memoir and revealed some secrets of their relationship in the book proposal that was leaked to the press, but eventually decided not to go through with it.
