Britain issued horrifying warning as government not prepared for hybrid war with Russia | UK | News

Britain has received a dire warning that it is unprepared to deal with the growing threats posed by Russia, which is eyeing further ahead than Ukraine. Karl Rosander, CEO of defense technology company Scandinavian Air DefenseHe said Britain needed to be better prepared for possible power outages and disruption to critical infrastructure from hybrid warfare threats such as drone attacks. He told the Express: “You will see more power outages in the big cities. “The Russians know very well how to turn off our electricity.
“What happens if it’s eight hours? People might flush the toilet or something; they don’t have money because the machines don’t work. So what happens if it’s 36 hours? That’s when there’s chaos.” Mr Rosander suggested that the Government should invest in interceptor systems developed by Scandinavian Air Defense to help protect against these emerging threats.
His company has produced drone interceptors that are immune to signal disturbances at a fraction of the price of its competitors.
Similar technologies are often susceptible to spoofing attacks; This is a malicious technique that sends a fake radio signal to the receiver to counteract and override the legitimate signal.
But Mr. Rosander said Nordic Air Defense technology “cannot be disrupted by GPS spoofing or any radio signal degradation.”
He noted that this is vital during a hybrid war with Russia, as Russia has been accused of nearly 100 intervention campaigns since invading Ukraine in 2022.
From the perspective of Europe as a whole, Mr Rosander said the continent was also inadequately prepared to deal with current security threats and challenges.
He noted that different countries have fragmented procurement systems and standards, making it difficult to effectively coordinate and deploy defense systems.
Government officials and regulators have also been slow to adapt and approve new defense technologies from startups and innovative companies.
Karl expressed concern that Europe is not moving quickly enough to modernize and consolidate its defense capabilities against the new hybrid warfare threats it faces.
He said: “Even if politicians want to change now… they are not prepared. It’s a matter of speed and how to manage the defense technology companies that are moving fast in Europe. It’s about action, not talk.”
