The Week of the Long Knives | Scam of the Week

This week in Scam of the Week we dive into one of the wildest political shifts in years, with the Liberal Parties in New South Wales and Victoria pulling out the Long Knives. Within a week, two leaders had been sacked, new faces had been appointed and there was a distinct whiff of panic as the party was hemorrhaging votes for One Nation.

Then we follow the money. Nine Entertainment wrote “Blood Oil” on their front page, claiming super funds were tied to Putin’s oil business. But when you read the actual text, the story becomes a convenient distraction from the real scandal: Australian super funds being exposed for investments linked to war crimes in Gaza.

Then it’s back to Canberra, where the good old NACC has outdone itself again. Another week, another list of undisclosed conflicts of interest from chairman Paul Brereton. Ten more. It has now gone beyond parody. The watchdog set up to fight corruption keeps tripping over itself.

And finally, our Scam of the Week winner. No surprises. NACC. A limping, mangy little poodle somehow managed to avoid investigating the corruption while knee deep in it. A masterclass in corporate failure.
