Dubai is preparing to launch the first flying taxi service until 2026, making it one of the first cities that bring air taxis in the world to the public. Service is developed by Joby Aviation, a California -based company. It promises to provide fast, electric air travel and reduce travel time in the busy city.

According to a report by Reuters, four main “Vertipsia” are being built to support the flying taxi network. These are Dubai International Airport, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah. The first Vertiport at the airport is expected to be ready in the beginning of 2026. Currently, Palm Jumeirah from the airport takes about 45 minutes by car. With a flying taxi, this journey will only take 12 minutes.

An air taxi reservation will be similar to using a simple and driving sharing application such as Uber. In fact, since Joby Uber is a global partner, the same application can be used to make reservations, ride and driving. Over time, this service will expand to include hotels and other selected places to make airport transfers even easier.

Although the exact fee has not yet been approved, Joby estimates that a driving cost will be around $ 75 (about 6,464 RS). This is similar to the wage of a premium Uber black journey. Each flying taxi will be a pilot and can carry four passengers. Taxis will be a high windshield that offers striking views of Dubai’s silhouette during the flight.

Flying taxis will be managed by licensed professionals and will fly at a high speed of 320 km/h. Joby Aviation says the aircraft already completed hundreds of test flights covering 60,000 kilometers. The company guarantees that all necessary security checks and regulations will be monitored before starting the public service.
