Royal Mint releases two new coins to mark 15-year anniversary of cult show
The Royal Mint is launching two collectible “ice and fire” 50p coins to commemorate the 15th anniversary of fantasy drama Game Of Thrones.
The coins were made in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products.
The collection is built around the core duality (ice and fire) that defines Game of Thrones.
A selection of 50p coins will be colored to bring both designs to life.
Game of Thrones first aired in 2011 and the series has inspired a passionate global fan base.
Fans can order both coins from The Royal Mint starting at 9am on Wednesday, with delivery expected in autumn 2026.
Rebecca Morgan, Director of The Royal Mint, said: “Game of Thrones has captured the imagination of millions around the world and 15 years on, that passion remains as fierce as dragonfire.”
He added: “Whether you are a lifelong fan or exploring the Seven Kingdoms for the first time, these coins are a stunning tribute to one of the greatest stories ever told.”
Prices for the coins start from £15 for a bright uncirculated coin and £27.50 for a bright uncirculated colored coin; The silver coin costs £92.50 and the gold coin costs £2,420.
Last month the Royal Mint released a 50p coin celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Grand Prix in Britain.
The coin was unveiled at Brooklands in Weybridge, Surrey, home of Britain’s first Grand Prix in August 1926, and was photographed next to a Delage car.
The Royal Mint said it was the first time motorsport had been honored on one of its official UK coins.
The Grand Prix 50p in Britain was designed in collaboration with London-based agency Interstate.
The “tail” side of the coin captures the breadth of Grand Prix history and technological evolution; A historic racing car from the original 1926 Brooklands race sits alongside the 2026 Formula 1 car.
Some of the coins are also colored.
