Three arrested after man’s body found in wheelie bin in Coventry

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man’s body was found in a wheelie bin in Coventry.

West Midlands Police said in an update on Monday that a man and a woman in their forties and a man in his twenties were detained overnight in Blackpool and are being held in police custody for questioning.

It comes after a member of the public on Friday found the body of a man believed to be aged between 40 and 50 in a green-capped council dump near Cash’s Park. The man has not yet been identified.

Police said they are working to formally identify the man and determine how he died.

On Sunday officers released several photos of the bin the man was found in, along with a description of his tattoos, and appealed for anyone who recognizes them to come forward.

Police said the man had a tattoo of a cross wrapped around a snake and the words “Little Stardust” on his back, and a tattoo on his right arm that read “nan” with a shamrock and the colors of the Irish flag.

They added that it was believed he may have been hit by a vehicle before he was taken to the park.

Police said all three suspects were arrested on suspicion of murder and aiding an offender.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Poole, of West Midlands Police’s major crime unit, said: “Having started our investigation this weekend, we made a number of arrests overnight.
