Three flight attendants taken to hospital after Delta flight hits severe turbulence on descent into Sydney | Australia news

Three flight attendants were taken to hospital from Sydney airport on Friday morning after their plane hit bad turbulence just before landing.

Delta flight 41 from Los Angeles encountered turbulence while landing in Sydney, injuring four crew members, a Delta spokeswoman confirmed.

The Airbus A350 was carrying 245 passengers and 15 crew, none of whom reported injuries.

Flightradar24 showed the plane landed just after 6.40am local time and stopped at 6.47am.

An Ambulance NSW spokesman said ambulances were called to the airport at around 6.45am.

Medical teams arrived at the scene and examined 5 injured people.

An ambulance spokesman said three people were taken to Royal Prince Alfred hospital with “minor injuries” to different parts of their bodies, some to the back.

A Delta spokesperson said: “Nothing is more important than the safety of our people and customers, and our priority is to care for the affected crew members.”

Patients at the hospital refused to share their conditions with the media.

The plane was supposed to arrive from the southwest but turned northwest, about 50 kilometers off the New South Wales coast, and flew north to the airport.

Sydney experienced strong onshore winds on Friday morning but these appeared unrelated to Tropical Cyclone Narelle, which was approaching Queensland’s northern coast at the time.
