Prax Group: Urgent concerns over UK fuel supplies as oil refinery owner collapses

The parent company behind one of the largest oil refineries of England collapsed on the administration by revealing the urgent concerns about the country’s fuel materials and hundreds of workers’ livelihoods.

State Oil, the owner of the Lindsey Refinery of Lindsey Refinery in Northern Lincolnshire, through the Prax group subsidiary, appointed executives on Monday.

This move was rapidly followed by a separate wrapping order against Lindsey oil refinery and related works, and now a liquidation officer was appointed.

The collapse directly affects more than 180 personnel employed by state oil as well as estimated 440 workers in the Lindsey refinery.

Union Unite said that the company’s failure would seriously endanger British oil materials and leave the country “on the edge of the cliff”.

Considering that the Lindsey region in the UK is one of the only five major oil refineries in the UK, the situation is particularly critical after the Grangemouth factory in Scotland was recently closed.

Union Unite expresses concerns that the company's failure may affect the UK oil materials, calling the government for emergency intervention.

Unite Secretary General Sharon Graham said: “Lindsey oil refinery is strategically important and should intervene immediately to protect the government’s workers and fuel materials.

“Unite has constantly warned that its policies have placed the oil and gas industry on a cliff.

“He couldn’t move and put his fingers in his ears instead.

“The government needs a short -term strategy to protect a sustainable long -term plan to fully protect Lindsey’s activity and all oil and gas workers.”

Energy Minister Michael Shanks said that the company’s collapse was “deeply worried, and the company’s government has left the government“ very little time to take action ”.

He said: “There have been problems with this company for a long time, and the workers were badly disappointed.

“The Minister of Foreign Affairs is today writing to the Bankruptcy Service to request an immediate investigation about the execution of principals and the conditions surrounding this bankruptcy.

“The government will do everything we can to support workers and local society, including the unions and industrial organs, which will protect materials, protect our energy safety.”

“The government believes that the leadership of the business has a responsibility for workers and local society.

“We urge them to do the right thing and support the workers during this difficult period.”

Lindsey refinery, built in 1968, can process about 113,000 barrels of oil per day.

Clere Boardman, a joint manager of State Oil and Prax, said: uz We appreciate that this is a very difficult and uncertain time for employees and everyone concerned, and we will be in place to support them in this challenging period.

Iz We will consider all options for the group, including the possibility of sales, all out of bankruptcy for retail operations such as upward business and gas stations of the group.

“We thank the group’s team members and other stakeholders for their continuous support.”

Prax Group was not available to comment immediately.
