Thunberg’s claims of mistreatment in custody ‘brazen lies’

On Sunday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry sharply rejected the allegations that Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and other pro -Palestinian activists were treated harshly in custody.

He said that the activisists should “feel clearly the conditions of detention and think twice before approaching Israel again.”

On Friday, the Israeli navy seized the end of the global Sumud Flotilla’s 42 boats. More than 400 crew members from dozens of countries, including Thunberg, were detained. Israel has already begun to deport activists to their country.

Claims of insufficient water and bedbug rashes

The Guardian newspaper said that Thunberg spoke to Swedish representatives about Israeli in custody harsh treatment. It has been reported that he had taken inadequate water and food and developed skin rashes allegedly caused by bedbugurus. He said he had spent a long time sitting on “hard surfaces”. According to the TT News Agency, the Swedish Foreign Ministry said that its representatives met with detainees. The Ministry also emphasized the importance of addressing the medical needs of Israeli officials and giving the opportunity to “immediately access food and clean water” and meet legal representatives.

The activists claimed that they aimed to provide humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Israel offered to move aid from the ports outside Gaza and then deliver it to the Palestinian coastal area. However, the activists rejected this and argued that Israel’s Gaza blockade violated international law.
