Golf legend Tiger Woods was arrested for drunken driving following a rollover car crash in Florida on Friday, the Martin County Sheriff said.

The crash occurred just after 2 p.m. ET on Jupiter Island, where Woods lives.

There were no injuries in the accident because there was no one else in the vehicle where Woods was. Woods managed to crawl out of his vehicle after it tipped to one side. According to the video shared with CNBC, the scene was clear as of 16:00.

“Our DUI investigators arrived on scene and Mr. Woods showed signs of impairment,” Sheriff John Budensiek said during a media report. “They did some tests on him, of course he described his injuries and surgeries he had had, so we took that into consideration, but they did some in-depth tests on the side of the road and when he was identified he was arrested and taken to the Martin County Jail.”

Authorities believe Woods was under the influence of a drug or drug, Budensiek said. Budensiek said he scored 0.00 on his breathalyzer test.

The sheriff said Woods will be held until at least 11 p.m. Friday and will be released if he posts bail.

Woods is recovering from various injuries he sustained in a previous car crash in Southern California in 2021. The 50-year-old man underwent multiple surgeries after the accident. He had surgery to replace a disc in his back in October.

Vicodin, Dilaudid, Xanax, Ambien and THC were found in Woods’ system following the 2021 crash. After that incident, he went to rehab for drug addiction treatment.

On Tuesday, Woods made his season debut with TGL Golf, the professional indoor golf league he founded with Rory McIlroy. Woods’ team, Jupiter Links, lost 9-2 on his return, but Woods managed to reach over 300 meters.

It is unclear whether Woods will play in the Masters Tournament, which begins April 9 at Augusta National.

The five-time Masters Champion shared his desire to play following his appearance at TGL.

“I tried,” Woods said. “This body doesn’t heal like it did when I was 24 or 25. I want to play. I love tournaments. I’ve loved being there since I was 19. Either way, I’ll be there.”

But President Donald Trump poured cold water on that in a phone call to Fox News on Thursday.

“I love Tiger,” he said. “He’ll be there, but he won’t be playing there.”

Woods is currently dating Trump’s former bride, Vanessa Trump.

On Friday, Trump called Woods “a very close friend” following news of the crash.

“I feel very bad. He’s going through some difficulties. There was an accident and that’s all I know,” Trump told reporters. “He’s a great person, a great guy, but there are some challenges.”

CNBC reached out to the PGA Tour, Woods’ representative and TGL but did not hear back.
