On Tuesday, Trump revealed he spoke with Woods following his drunken driving arrest. ‘I think it’s going great, it’s going well,’ the president said.
His comments came after a breathalyzer test revealed he showed no signs of alcohol, but Woods had two loose opioid pills in his pocket when he was searched by officers at the scene.
“As you know, he has tested negative for alcohol and is under tremendous physical strain due to various back and leg ailments,” Trump said.
‘He lives a life full of pain. He has a lot of pain. He’s a great guy. He’s an amazing athlete. He is in pain. ‘He doesn’t have an alcohol problem, but he has pain.’

Trump spoke about Woods’ struggles last week, telling reporters: ‘I feel very bad. He is experiencing some difficulties; There was an accident and that’s all I know.’
The President added:'[He is] A very close friend of mine, a wonderful person, a wonderful man. But it’s a bit of a hassle. ‘I don’t want to talk about it.’
This latest footage emerged on Thursday evening, just hours after more videos were revealed. A dazed Woods knelt on the side of the road and fell asleep in the back of a police car after his latest DUI arrest.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office released a 17-minute video of Woods being transported to the jail, along with a clip of the moment officers found him lethargic, sweaty and unsteady on the side of the street.
In the images taken in the backseat of the police car, Woods can be seen yawning wildly, trying to control his hiccups and falling asleep for a short time, while remaining completely silent.
In the first roadside clip, captured on the arresting officer’s body camera, Woods can be heard explaining how the crash occurred.
‘I looked at my phone and suddenly… boom!’ Woods told the officer about the moment the pressure washer broke the back of his trailer and rolled his Range Rover onto its side.
He was kneeling on the edge of the grass as medical checks were carried out on him and a police officer asked: “Are you comfortable with this?” he can be heard asking. To which the police officer replies, “Yes, yes.”
Woods and his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, reportedly had tense meetings after his release from prison.
Woods appeared to be drifting during the short drive to the police station in Martin County.
The officer then turns away from the golfer and shows his overturned vehicle and the driver of the truck and trailer being questioned by a different officer on a quiet Jupiter Island street.
Woods’ arrest affidavit was released Wednesday, and cops describe how he said he was “looking at this cell phone and changing the radio station” when the crash occurred.
When officers searched Woods, they found two white pills in his left pants pocket. They are marked ‘M367’, which is hydrocodone and is used to treat severe or chronic pain. Opioids are ‘highly addictive,’ according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
The 15-time major winner’s eyes were also said to be ‘bloodshot and glassy’ and his pupils were ‘extremely dilated’. When asked if he was currently taking any prescription medications, Woods replied, “I’m taking a few.”
This comes after the Daily Mail first reported that Woods’ refusal to provide a urine sample at the scene was likely due to the fact that he had taken a heavy dose of prescription opioids due to his repeated injuries.
Woods, who has been involved in numerous other crashes over the years, was charged with drunken driving, property damage and refusing to submit to legal testing.
The affidavit states Woods ‘limped and stumbled’ during the field sobriety test. After completing a series of practices, Woods was deemed unfit to drive his car.
He was traveling at “high speeds” on a residential road and showed “signs of impairment” after the crash, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said, adding that investigators believe he was taking some type of medication or drugs.
Woods was driven home from jail after being released on bail by a friend late Friday night
He described Woods as lethargic and said he accepted a breathalyzer test, which showed no signs of alcohol, but refused a urine test and was arrested.
Budensiek said Woods tried to pass the pressure cleaning truck while driving on a two-lane road with a speed limit of 30 miles per hour. He said authorities could not determine how fast Woods was going.
Budensiek said the Land Rover swerved to avoid a collision as it passed the truck, but hit the rear end of the truck’s trailer. Woods’ car then moved to the driver’s side and he crawled out.
The sheriff said Woods was “cooperative,” but [was] He’s not trying to blame himself.’
He said Woods had the right to refuse a urine test and that authorities “will never be able to obtain definitive conclusions regarding his impairment.”
This was the fourth time Woods was involved in a car accident. In February 2021, his SUV went off a beach road in Los Angeles at a high rate of speed, causing multiple leg and ankle injuries.
Woods later said doctors were considering amputation. He had also previously suffered multiple injuries to his left knee and back throughout his golf career.
This is the second time Woods has been arrested for drunk driving and not under the influence of alcohol.
Authorities said he had taken a bad mix of painkillers when they found him asleep at the wheel of his car in 2017, with the engine still running and the driver’s side damaged. Woods later pleaded guilty to reckless driving.
