Tiger Woods’ private jet lands in Zurich as golf legend, 50, prepares for rehab in wake of DUI and car crash

According to information obtained, the private jet belonging to golf legend Tiger Woods landed in Zurich, Switzerland on Friday.

Woods, 50, said this week he would “seek treatment and focus on my health” after his drunk driving arrest, and the judge gave him permission to leave the country so he could do so with more privacy than in the United States.

It is not yet clear whether Woods was on the flight to Europe, but Switzerland is believed to be home to some of the world’s most expensive and luxurious private treatment facilities.

TMZ reports Some facilities in Zurich even have ‘single customer access’, meaning only Woods will be on site, giving him the privacy he desires.

The plane, said to be worth around $50 million, touched down in Switzerland early Friday morning ET and is now flying back to the United States, according to TMZ.

It’s been a week since Woods was involved in a car accident and subsequently arrested after rear-ending and flipping his own SUV while trying to overtake a truck and trailer at high speed near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida.

He was arrested for drink driving, property damage and failure to submit to legal testing after cops found him ‘dazed and sweaty’ with two opioid pills in his pocket.

The police affidavit stated that Woods was ‘limping and stumbling’ during the field sobriety test. After completing a series of practices, Woods was deemed unfit to drive his car.

He was traveling at “high speeds” on a residential road and showed “signs of impairment” after the crash, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said, adding that investigators believe he was taking some type of medication or drugs.

He described Woods as lethargic and said he accepted a breathalyzer test, which showed no signs of alcohol, but refused a urine test and was arrested.

Budensiek said Woods tried to pass the pressure cleaning truck while driving on a two-lane road with a speed limit of 30 miles per hour. He said authorities could not determine how fast Woods was going.

Can Tiger Woods recover from this latest defeat, or has it completely damaged his career?

Budensiek said the Land Rover swerved to avoid a collision as it passed the truck, but hit the rear end of the truck’s trailer. Woods’ car then moved to the driver’s side and he crawled out.

Police body camera footage released Thursday showed Woods yawning wildly in the backseat of a police car, struggling to control bouts of sobbing and briefly falling asleep.

Earlier footage of the crash scene showed the extraordinary moment he walked away from police officers and then allegedly spoke to President Trump on the phone.

Woods’ possible arrival in Switzerland for treatment comes just hours after his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, broke her silence on the arrest and posted a supportive message to Tiger on her Instagram account.

Alongside a photo of the couple embracing, she wrote quite simply: ‘I love you.’

The Daily Mail understands Vanessa, 48, has been pushing behind the scenes for Woods to get the best care possible and Woods cannot stand another repeat of the problems that have deprived his life of sport.

Last week’s car crash was the fourth crash involving Woods since 2009.

The first of these was when Woods, after learning that his ex-wife Elin Nordegren was cheating on him, ran into a fire hydrant outside his home and ran away.

In 2017, police found him on the side of the road, asleep at the wheel with the engine running. He was also arrested for drunk driving after Woods accused him of having an ‘unexpected reaction’ to prescribed medication for his condition. He later checked into rehab.

In 2021, he flipped his car so badly at high speed in California that he broke his right leg in multiple places, and there were fears he could face amputation.

Vanessa and Woods have been dating since Thanksgiving 2024, with the Daily Mail exclusively revealing their relationship in March last year.

Just days before Woods’ fall, Vanessa, along with her daughter Kai, watched from the stands in Florida as he watched his highly anticipated return to golf at the TGL (The Golf League) event.

He lost the team, but it was still seen as a big step for Woods, given his recovery from his seventh back surgery last October and a ruptured Achilles tendon last March. He last competed at The Open Championship tournament in Scotland in July 2024.

Expectations were growing that he would compete in next week’s Masters at Augusta, one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments. Woods, who has 15 Major titles, won here five times during his all-conquering career.

But that will no longer happen, with the PGA Tour saying on Wednesday that Woods has turned down the chance to captain the United States at the 2027 Ryder Cup in Ireland to focus on his own health.
