Muslim United Front Opposes Move To Acquire Anjuman Lands

: The Muslim United Front (MUF) on Sunday strongly opposed the preliminary notification issued by the Guntur district collector regarding acquisition of Guntur Anjuman land under the Land Acquisition Act, demanding its immediate withdrawal and warning of legal action if the move is not cancelled.
The decision was passed unanimously at MUF’s Tenali Assembly constituency level meeting chaired by Guntur parliamentary constituency collector Sheikh Khalil. The meeting decided to convey formal objections to the collector through the chief executive officer of the state Waqf Board and take further legal action to protect the lands if the notice is not withdrawn.
Addressing the meeting, MUF provincial president Muhammad Kaleem said that the attempts to capture the lands of the Waqf and Muslim religious institutions were unprecedented and would deeply hurt the sentiments of the minority community. He recalled Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s earlier assurances that the Wakf properties would be protected from encroachment and urged the Wakf Board to strictly abide by this stance.
Sheikh Khalil alleged that Muslims were not given due priority in the current government and questioned the use of funds allocated for the welfare of Muslims in the state budget in the last 18 months. He demanded that the government publish a white paper detailing the expenditure.
He also expressed concern about allegations of irregularities in the management of the Foundation, including reports of bargaining in the appointment of Trustees, and called for a transparent investigation. The meeting, attended by leaders from various constituencies, also decided to hold a Guntur parliamentary constituency level meeting within two weeks to discuss community issues.
