Tehran ‘attacks US ships with drones’ as new images of daring raid on Iranian tanker emerge and oil prices surge – Live updates

CENTCOM releases new photos of the US raid on Iranian tanker

CENTCOM released new footage of the US Navy seizing an Iranian-flagged container ship in the Gulf of Oman on Sunday.

Troops aboard USS Spruance stopped M/V Touska in the Arabian Sea, heading towards Bandar Abbas.

The operation is the first known incident in which the United States opened fire on a merchant ship during the conflict.

US President Donald Trump said that after the ship in the Gulf of Oman refused a “fair warning to stop”, American troops opened fire on the ship and had it “completely under surveillance”.

The US navy had warned that it would board and seize any tankers trying to escape the naval blockade that began on April 13 against ships going to or coming from Iranian ports.
