Tindler Swindler victim who was ‘conned out of £39,000’ in shock of fraudster’s release from prison after facing up to ten years behind bars

‘Tinder Scam’ victim Shimon Hayut described his release from prison last week as ‘shock’ and ‘disappointment’.

Swedish businesswoman Pernilla Sjoholm’s comments came after it was revealed on Friday that Hayut, 35, who was accused of defrauding women across Europe after connecting with them on a dating app by pretending to be a member of a wealthy diamond merchant family, had been dramatically released from prison in Georgia.

Hayut had faced up to ten years behind bars after he was arrested there in September for allegedly committing a £38,000 fraud against a woman living in Berlin, Germany.

He was held in the country’s notorious Kutaisi Prison for two months awaiting extradition, but in a striking development, he was released after German authorities canceled the arrest warrant.

This followed what Hayut’s Georgian lawyer, Mariam Kublashvila, called a “fair and appropriate” plea agreement in which Hayut was instead sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence.

Miss Sjoholm, 38, who claimed to have been defrauded of £39,000 after The Mail reported her release on Sunday evening, said she was completely unaware she would be released.

‘I wasn’t told about my situation because it wasn’t part of the case in Germany, so of course it’s a bit shocking,’ he said.

‘I’m disappointed he won’t be in prison for any more years, but he did two months and it’s a plea deal, so he’s been convicted and that means he’s confessed to his crimes.

‘It’s not what the lawyers said at first; He was released because the evidence was too weak. Actually, this is not the case. There was a plea agreement, so I still see that as a win.’

This sentiment is not shared by Hayut, who boasted to the Daily Mail just hours before his release that he was “unstoppable” and “won’t change anything” in an exclusive interview from behind bars.

But Ms. Sjoholm, who today lives in Stockholm with her partner and their teenage twins, pointed out that there were still cases against her in her native Israel; These include a lawsuit filed by the wealthy Leviev family, who are suing him for claiming to be a member of the family.

‘This is his third conviction. Ms. Sjoholm said that she had an ongoing case in Israel in which I had testified.

‘I hope further legal action will be taken and I believe countries where others have reported will also move forward.

‘This case has focused solely on the German file, but as far as I know there are also open cases from the UK, so I hope the Met police will step forward and take action a little more quickly.’

He added: ‘What many people don’t know is that she has been accused of not only romance fraud but also crimes against companies and men.

‘This is what he’s been through since he was a teenager, this is his nature, it won’t change. Only the law can change this.’
