Tirumala Temple to Close for 10 Hours on Tuesday due to Lunar Eclipse

Tirupati: TTD has announced that the shrine of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy here and several other temples managed by him will remain closed to devotees for 10 hours on Tuesday in view of the lunar eclipse.
According to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), darshan will resume at 8.30 pm after completion of purification rituals following the end of the eclipse period.
“Temples under TTD will remain closed for more than 10 hours and will reopen for devotees after Suddhi and other purification rituals,” an official press release from the temple body said.
Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple in Tirupati will also remain closed due to the lunar eclipse.
The lunar eclipse will take place between 15.20 and 18.47. According to established tradition, the temple gates will be closed approximately six hours before the eclipse.
It was stated that temples in Narayanavanam, Karvetinagaram, Nagalapuram, Bugga, Satravada, Nagari, Tarigonda, Vayalpad and Kosuvaripalli will also remain closed during the eclipse period.
The temple body said that to manage the closure, TTD canceled many sevas for the day, including Astadala Padapadmaradhana Seva, Unjal Seva and Arjita Brahmotsavam.
VIP break darshan, Srivani darshan, Rs 300 special darshan and NRI darshan have also been suspended. TTD is the official custodian of the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, which is considered the richest Hindu temple in the world.
