Tories pledge to get ‘all our oil and gas out of the North Sea’

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch said that when his party was elected, he would remove all the net zero requirements on oil and gas companies drilling in the North Sea.
In a speech in Aberdeen on Tuesday, Badenoch is only to “remove the maximize” and “all of our oil and gas from the North Sea”.
Reform UK said he wanted more fossil fuel from the North Sea.
The workers’ government has committed to prohibit new discovery licenses. A spokesman said that a “fair and regular transition”, far from oil and gas, will “increase growth”.
The government spokesman said the discovery of new areas will “not take a penny from the bills” or not improve energy security and “only accelerate the worsening climate crisis”.
When Badenoch announced earlier this year, he pointed to a significant change in conservative climate policy. Net zero is “impossible” until 2050.
Subsequent British governments promised to reach the target until 2050 and were written by Theresa May in 2019. This means that Britain should cut carbon emissions until the 2015 Paris climate agreement is removed as much as it is removed.
Now Badenoch said that the requirements to work towards Net Zero are a burden on oil and gas manufacturers that will harm the economy in the North Sea.
The Tora leader said that a conservative government will need to work on technologies such as reducing emissions or carbon storage.
Badenoch said it was “ridiculous ,, England” left “Norway, leaving” Norwegian “without the use of vital sources.”
Prime Minister in 2023 Rishi Altak gave 100 new licenses At that time, piercing in the North Sea, which he said at that time, was “completely consistent” with clear commitments.
Reform UK said this would happen Eliminate push for net zero If he was chosen.
The current government said that “the largest investment in the open sea wind so far and three types of carbon capture and storage clusters”.
Carbon capture and storage plants aim to prevent the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) produced from industrial processes and electrical power plants to the atmosphere.
Most of the produced CO2 are captured, transported and then deeply stored underground.
Like the International Energy Agency and the Climate Change Committee, it is seen as a key element in meeting targets to cut greenhouse gases that guide dangerous climate change.
