What to know about America’s unofficial party house in London

It may be a magnificent house, but it is known that it has shown a party hell for years, especially on July 4, on the Day of Independence of America. This year’s celebrations saw Nil Rodgers & Chic’s grass for thousands of people.
The elite of fashion, sports stars and war -time leaders had fun here. Even in 1825, when the original site was built, the primary use was for entertainment, according to Winfield’s official website.
President Donald Trump spends the first night of the state visit in a 35 -room mansion. Trumps remained there in 2019 as well as Biden and Obamas.
Stephen Crisp, the head gardener of the property, who worked there for 37 years until his retirement last year, says, “This is not only the home of the ambassador, but also diplomatic hospitality center.”
Something Winfield is not a tourist attraction. It is special in Regent’s Park and plans to enter. Regent’s Park friends had previously organized tours on the grounds – but this year the ambassador did not allow.
The house cannot be seen from the road outside. Woodland is covered and very special in the center of London.
“It’s really hard to get there, it’s really hard. He calls the house “magnificent” and on the grounds of sensible way.
Winfield tours only allow you to see the ground floor, which is a “very luxurious” area for reception and gardens. The first floor is home to the Ambassador’s personal offices.
A house and most of the American reception are strict programs. “It wasn’t a situation we wanted to come with this time and this time. Only, you’d be allowed to come here today.”
Crisp says he has the second largest private garden in the center of London. A grass is home to asphalt walking paths and sculptures – and there is also room for the helicopters to land.

Hutton bought the house 10 years ago after being partially destroyed in the fire. The Royal Real Estate Commission has permission to demolish and rebuild the remaining iconic red brick Georgian style today.
His grandfather Woolworth is after Frank Winfield Woolworth, the founder of the shopping chain.
Hutton returned to America in 1939 with his son in 1939, as the Second World War erupted and his second marriage went well. Later, when he met his next husband – actor Cary Grant – he met, he was said to stay in the mansion.

Hutton returned to London to see what happened at the end of the war and after the German bombs. He called his lawyer and asked him to be delivered to the US government for repair – and since then he was used as the official residence of the ambassadors.
History is on Winfield’s walls. The original building was called ST dunstan and was used for the blind veterans of the First World War, according to Regent Friends Park. Today there is still a charity with the same name.
Speaking about our presidents, Mr. Crisp said, “It comes at least once at some point.” During the previous state visits in 2019, he announced that he met Trump and his wife Melania. Before rising on the throne, Queen Camilla and King III. They had dinner on the property with Charles.
A iconic image of Mikhail Gorbachev – the last Soviet leader – and US President George W Bush can be one of the most famous moments of the house. In 1991, the couple held a joint news conference at the G7 Summit.
For a long time, politicians have used it for important moments, including international summits, great state dinners and war periods.

“Security is incredible, so I had to send a list of the participants to the embassy, for example,” he adds, and said that the photo identity should be shown to the armed presence at Winfield gates.
And if you want to leave early? An armed officer must remove you from the facilities.

It was Taken’s performances, Duran Duran, Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran and Bastille, sometimes in the garden and sometimes at home.
He also hosts the Duke of Sussex and sports events that participate in an Invictus game reception. Michelle Obama, with some famous spectators, even the tugboat of the war was caught in a sports day event.

Since the July 4 party usually collects 3,000 or 4,000, some events will include “thousands of” guests.

“You never know you’re in the center of London,” says Mr. Ward.
But what is the most disappointing part of the house? (It sounds like a disappointing stretch.) Mr. Ward says the car road is “very humble” compared to Winfield’s rest.
“Large enough for large limousines, but you didn’t get a guardian brigade and things. Not like a shopping center.”
