Tour de France 2026: Tadej Pogacar wins fifth Tour as Mathieu van der Poel takes stage 21
One of the most entertaining drivers of the race was Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz from EF Education-Easypost. He worked hard early in the race before coming into great shape to become the king of the mountain points jersey.
He won stage 18 and Saturday’s stage 20 after taking the race’s high point in first place and reaching the top after 5,450km of climbing.
The green dotted jersey was awarded to Pedersen from Lidl-Trek; After a determined ride on the climbs, he is generally not strong at winning the fourth stage as well as picking up mid-stage points.
He beat several sprinters in the jersey, including Japser Philipsen from Alpecin-Premier Tech. Philipsen won stage 17, while Soudal-Quick Step’s Belgian Tim Merlier also won three sprint stages.
