Tourist spots ‘shark fin’ in Loch Ness
An American tourist claims to have seen a “white shark fin” moving in the waters of Loch Ness.
Sara Gubicza was visiting the legendary Scottish loch with her husband during their holiday from the US in April and revealed that while on a bus tour of the area, she noticed an unusual-looking object moving through the water. He compared it to the shark fin, fueling speculation that the legendary Loch Ness Monster may be alive and well.
He reported his sighting to the Official Loch Ness Monster Sighting Record and explained: “The fin size was approximately 18 inches triangular and was whitish grey.
“I’m not sure how fast it was moving because I was on a bus passing by when I saw it. It looked like it was right in the middle of the lake. It wasn’t close to any shoreline.”
“It was close to Loch Dochfour and in front of Urquhart Castle coming from Inverness. Coming from Inverness, we were heading south and the fin was going in the opposite direction, north.”
In 2026, seven incidents were reported to the organization.
The revelation comes after experts tracking Scotland’s infamous Loch Ness Monster feared the legendary monster may have died. Sightings of a mysterious monster in the lake’s waters date back to 1933, but some Nessie hunters fear it may have met its demise because reports have dwindled significantly and they haven’t seen any plausible signs for so long.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, Rob Long of Loch Ness Research [LNE] The team said: “There is real fear for him as we don’t normally go this long without even exchanging a single glance.
“Normally people from our team see it, but none of us have so far. Others have claimed it, but we have never seen water this quiet.”
“Over the years the number of views has decreased, but for us it has never been this low. Despite the lack of views, 2024 was the year when we had the most conclusive evidence that Nessie existed, and the sonar records were among the best we have ever had.”
He continued: “So even though the views were lower, it was better quality. Now there’s nothing. “Nessie was there, we all know that, but she’s clearly being smart about the people looking for her. “We also think additional activities at the lake have been postponed, such as people wanting to try cold water swimming.”
