‘Bussy’ N. Anand: Vijay’s close confidante to be part of new Tamil Nadu Cabinet

‘Bussy’ N. Anand is a close confidant of TVK founder C. Joseph Vijay.
Nine ministers of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) are expected to take oath in Chennai on Sunday, May 10, 2026, along with party president and Prime Minister candidate C. Joseph Vijay.
Among those likely to be sworn in is Mr. Vijay’s close confidant ‘Bussy’ N. Anand, who was elected from Theagaraya Nagar (T. Nagar) constituency.

Puducherry to Tamil Nadu Assembly
N. Anand, popularly known as ‘Bussy’ Anand, is the general secretary of TVK and the trusted aide of founder C. Joseph Vijay. He is set to enter the Tamil Nadu Assembly as MLA from T. Nagar in Chennai.
The 61-year-old MLA-elect had previously served as a legislator representing Bussy constituency in the Puducherry Assembly. He won the seat in 2006 as the candidate of Puducherry Munnetra Congress, a party founded by former Union Territory Speaker P. Kannan.
This is probably the first instance of the Tamil Nadu Assembly including a member who had previously served as a legislator in another Assembly.

Mr. Anand had also served as president of the Vijay Rasigar Mandram in Puducherry and organized welfare initiatives there. During this period, he came into close contact with Mr. Vijay and later became the founding office bearer of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam when it was formed two years ago.
Since then, he has been coordinating Mr. Vijay’s political support activities, including election campaign rallies.
Stampede incident in Karur
Karur Town police have registered a case against Mr. Anand and two others in connection with the stampede in which 41 people died at a party meeting of actor Vijay at Velusamypuram in Karur district on September 27, 2025.
Mr. Anand was also questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is probing the case.
