Pakistan: Death Toll Rises To 17 In Karachi Building Collapse | World News

Pakistani officials said in a statement on Saturday that Karachi’s five -storey housing building in Lyari said that the mortality rate rose to 17 as more corpses were saved from the debris.
Pakistan’s Express Tribune newspaper, emergency interventions so far saved nine wounded salary, but the authorities are afraid that at least 25 to 30 people can be buried under the remains.
The building, which hosts six families, collapsed early on Friday morning. There are three women and a child among the approved dead.
The incident triggered the scenes of panic and distress in the southern port of Pakistan, where several buildings were not suitable for occupation.
Authorities, Lyari’nin Cherry Baghdadi region, which lasted for decades, announced that the building was declared insecure three years ago. However, the inhabitants did not evacuate the buildings and the authorities did not perform any execution. It was reported to contain three apartments on each floor of the building.
Javed Khoso, Deputy Southern Commissioner of Karachi, confirmed that the inhabitants of the building were presented to Pakistan every day in 2022, 2023 and 2024 that 107 dangerous buildings in the district were presented, 21 were classified as extremely dangerous and 14 were already evacuated.
While the search operation continued for more than 24 hours, the region’s Assistant Southern Commissioner Javed Khoso told Geo News on Saturday that the completion of the rescue operation could take up to eight to 10 hours.
He said there were 22 extremely dangerous buildings in Lyari, which were still evacuated.
Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi advised the residents of damaged buildings to be moved to another place to avoid any mishap.
The commissioner said that he would organize a meeting by Geo News on Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) on illegal construction, “We cannot force anyone,” he said.
