Travel experts find out which direction around the world is the fastest using major airlines

If you want to go to the other side of the world, you better prepare for a long journey… So what is the fastest route?

Travel and points experts Nicky Kelvin and Liam Spencer from The Points Guy decided to race each other by flying in different directions. London with Fiji.

This isn’t the first time The Points Guy brand has challenged its experts to compare airlines and routes against each other for speed; however, this is the longest race to date.

Nicky went east from the capital London via Cathay Pacific, while Liam went west on American Airlines. Both completed their journeys on Fiji Airways.

Setting out under the deep blue sky at Piccadilly Circus in central London, the duo began their journey, which is estimated to last about 30 hours.

Nicky hopped on the London Underground and Elizabeth Line to Heathrow Airport, spending her first leg in Cathay Pacific’s new business class A350 Aria Suite.

He flew to Hong Kong International Airport as he had enough time to shower before boarding Fiji Airways’ A330 flight.

Meanwhile, Liam used the premium direct Heathrow Express train service to board the plane. The American 777-300ER aircraft, also traveling in business class, departs for the west coast of America.

Liam quickly cleared Los Angeles International Airport before boarding the final leg, Fiji Airways’ A350 flight.

So who landed first in Fiji after more than 24 hours at 30,000 ft? It was extremely close in just 30 minutes.

They both arrived at Nadi International Airport and, like a real-life episode of Race Across the World, tensions rose as the pair went nearly neck-and-neck on one stage, with Nicky literally racing to the finish line.

Winner? It was Liam who set out on his journey westward.

The duo shared their journey via social media and posted a video via the channel on YouTube yesterday. Score Man.

In the video, Nicky announces: ‘It’s race day and it’s bigger and longer than we’ve ever done before.’

The video quickly racked up more than 28,000 views, and fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts.

One wrote: ‘Good video. Well done,” while another said: “I love you guys. This was a very entertaining video and still gave great information.’
