Born in the Netherlands, Pieter Elbers is a seasoned aviation executive with over 30 years of experience. He has been the CEO of IndiGo since September 2022. Before joining the Indian airline, Elbers spent most of his career at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines; He started as an Aircraft Loading Manager in 1992, was appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2011, and eventually served as President and CEO in 2014. He also served as an executive at Air France-KLM Group. Elbers holds a bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management and a master’s degree in Business Economics. He currently serves on the IATA Board of Directors and was elected chairman in June last year.
