Hours after Sean Penn made a ghostly appearance at the Academy Awards, the three-time Oscar winner was spotted halfway around the world. Penn, 65, who was not there to accept the Best Supporting Actor award for his role as Colonel Steven Lockjaw in One Battle After Another on Sunday, was photographed by an AFP reporter in Kiev, Ukraine, the next morning. “We can say he is in Ukraine, but this is his personal visit; that’s how he sees it should be in Ukraine,” a senior Ukrainian official told AFP. “He just wants to support Ukraine.”
