Helena Bonham Carter LEAVES White Lotus days into shoot as HBO confirms role will be ‘rewritten and recast’
Helena Bonham Carter left the filming of the fourth season of The White Lotus just days after production began in the South of France.
It was revealed that filming began last week on the hit HBO series, an anthology series with a new story set in a different exotic location each season.
In season four, Carter, 59, would join an all-star cast including Heather Graham, Sandra Bernhard, Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan and Rosie Perez.
However, HBO released a statement announcing that Carter was leaving the series due to creative differences regarding her character.
“While filming was still ongoing for the fourth season of The White Lotus, it was revealed that the character Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter was not aligned on set,” the channel said. TMZ.
‘The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks,’ the premium cabler continued.
A representative for Carter declined the Daily Mail’s request for comment.

Created by Mike White, the show revolves around the adventures of guests and staff at a different location of the same hotel chain each season.
Originally, Tanya McQuoid was the Jennifer Coolidge character, a crazy, rich older woman, who led the first two seasons while the rest of the cast rotated.
The action-packed third season went viral for its storyline between characters Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood, as well as incest scenes between siblings played by “nepo baby” actors Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola.
While the first three seasons took place in Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand, the fourth season will take place mainly on the French Riviera and partly in Paris.
It is reported that the action will focus on the Cannes Film Festival and the cast will include Hollywood names such as Kumail Nanjiani, Ari Graynor, Chloe Bennet, Max Greenfield, Alexander Ludwig, AJ Michalka, Charlie Hall and Ben Schnetzer.
European talents such as Corentin Fila, Laura Smet and Nadia Tereszkiewicz from France, Frida Gustavsson from Sweden and Tobias Santelmann from Sweden were also commissioned to add authenticity to the region.
It has been revealed that the real-life Airelles Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez will be the filming location for the fictional White Lotus du Cap, while the Hôtel Martinez will play both the White Lotus du Cap and the White Lotus Cannes.
The name White Lotus du Cap is a playful reference to the world-famous Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, which was on the Cannes Film Festival’s A-list.
As everyone knows, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton had a torrid love affair there while married to other people, and later returned there for their own honeymoon.
