Trudeau ‘surprised’ people cared about Katy Perry date

Justin Trudeau apparently had no idea that people were interested in his social life.

But the former prime minister quickly learned that once in the public eye, always in the public eye, after the internet went wild over reports that he and Katy Perry were out to dinner.

“Justin didn’t know so many people would find out about the private dinner,” a political source told People magazine.

“He was also surprised by the international interest and how it went through the roof for days.”

The insider continued: “Justin and Katy are for sure attracted to each other on several levels and had a wonderful time together in Canada.”

According to the source, the pair discovered they had a lot in common, despite only spending a couple of days together.

“They discovered how they agree on many things and really enjoyed their encounter in Canada for as short a time as it was.”

Trudeau, 53, and Perry, 40, were spotted having a cozy meal at Le Violon in Montreal last month, while the singer was playing back-to-back dates in Ottawa and Montreal.

Before their dinner, the pair were seen walking down the city’s Mount Royal Park as security trailed them.

While the pair had a lovely time together, the source claimed Trudeau would have preferred to have more control over how details were shared as he and Perry were still in the early stages of getting to know one another.

“As long as (media coverage) goes his way, then he’s fine,” the insider explained of Trudeau’s nose up toward the unwanted publicity.

“He would prefer it more low-key.”

Trudeau has been single since August 2023, when he and ex-wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau announced their separation after 18 years of marriage.

Perry and actor Orlando Bloom split in June.
