England women play 500th game: Landmark Lionesses moments

England’s Lionesses are no strangers to making history.

The past decade has been rich with landmark moments; first tournament medal, first major trophy and first title defense on foreign soil.

They will reach another milestone when Sarina Wiegman’s team play Iceland in Reykjavik on Saturday (17:30 BST): the 500th match for England’s senior women’s team.

This match is important in terms of qualifying for the World Cup to be held in Brazil next year; England are looking to win more silver medals with their famous white jersey.

But whatever the outcome, this match will go down in history as a reminder of how far English women’s football has come.
