The spokesman added that Trump was invited to Russia for a potential second summit.

There was no reaction from Ukraine.

The announcement of the meeting came only a few hours after Trump pointed out that Ukraine may have to leave the region to end the war that began with Russia’s full -scale invasion of its neighbor in February 2022.

“You’re looking at the fighting area for three and a half years, many Russians are dead. Many Ukrainian died.” He said.

Early on Friday, Wall Street Journal reported that Putin proposed a similar arrangement to Trump’s ambassador Steve Witkoff at the last meeting in Moscow.

“President Zelensky needs to take everything in need, because he will have to prepare to sign, and I think he’s working hard to do it,” Trump said. He said.

Last month, Trump admitted that Putin was disappointed after the Fourth of Witkoff’s previous visits to the BBC.

In recent weeks, he hardened his attitude towards the Kremlin and implemented a deadline on Friday for Russia to take a ceasefire in Ukraine or to face more comprehensive sanctions.

However, as the deadline approached, the economic threat was rapidly overshadowed by Trump and Putin’s meeting plans to discuss a potential peace agreement.

No more sanctions on Russia from the White House on Friday.

Trump and Putin spoke on the phone in February with the first direct change between the leaders of the two countries since Russia’s full -scale invasion.
