Smith was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. and was described as being “passively resistant” to officers as he was placed in a patrol vehicle to be taken to the Floyd County Jail.
When officers arrived at the prison with him, he refused to get out of the vehicle and had to be dragged out, according to police.
During medical evaluation at the jail, Smith was accused of “being a troublemaker and actively resisting the medical nurse,” so he was taken to a local hospital and medically cleared.
The report states that when officers tried to get Smith into a patrol vehicle to return to the jail, Smith actively resisted, did not comply with commands, and kicked an officer in the chest with both legs.
In his second appearance at the Floyd County Jail, Smith was charged with obstructing law enforcement, simple battery on an officer and public intoxication.
