President Donald Trump accused European countries of being “unrecognizable” at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday.
“I don’t want to insult anyone and say I don’t know them,” Trump said in private on Wednesday. he said. “And this is not in a positive way. This is in a very negative way. I love Europe and I want to see Europe doing good, but things are not moving in the right direction.”
“In recent years, it has become conventional wisdom in Washington and European capitals that the only way to grow a modern Western economy is through ever-increasing government spending, uncontrolled mass immigration, and endless foreign imports,” Trump said. he said.
Trump later said issues such as energy, trade, immigration and economic growth should be “the primary concerns of anyone who wants to see a strong and united West.”
Trump’s comments come amid rising tensions between the United States and European allies after Trump renewed his bid to buy Greenland and threatened to impose tariffs on European allies that do not support those efforts.
