President Donald Trump attacked liberal late-night host Seth Meyers in a Truth Social post on Saturday, which was later reshared online by Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Brendan Carr, causing some eyebrows to be raised online.
“NBC’s Seth Meyers suffers from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). He was filmed last night in an uncontrollable rage, probably because his ‘show’ is a Ratings DISASTER. Apart from anything else, Meyers has no talent and NBC should fire him NOW!” Trump said.
Carr reposted a screenshot of Trump’s Truth Social post with no additional comments. Meyers has taken aim at Trump on many issues, including the newly released Jeffrey Epstein emails that mentioned him thousands of times this week.
CALIFORNIA DEMOCRAT TO LEAVE SINCLAIR BROADCASTING GROUP AND CALLS FOR REBELLION FROM FCC CHAIRMAN
Some progressives were disturbed by Carr’s repost about X; Joe Jones, a Democrat from North Carolina, wrote: “Trump attacks Seth Myers and says NBC should fire him, and Trump’s head of the FCC, which regulates NBC, rebroadcasts it… because that’s how it works in North Korea.”
Former Michigan Rep. Justin Amash, who left the Republican Party and is a strong critic of Trump, wrote of
“We’re back to the FCC censoring comedians,” liberal writer Matthew Yglesias said on X.
During a podcast earlier this year, Carr said there were “courses” the FCC could take against ABC and Disney following late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s comments about Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin, which Carr said was “some of the most disgusting behavior.”
“Look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change behavior, take action, frankly, about Kimmel or, you know, there will be additional work ahead for the FCC,” Carr said.
Kimmel was briefly suspended by Disney in September but was later reinstated and said he was sorry if anyone thought he made light of Kirk’s murder. Kimmel came under criticism for suggesting that the alleged killer was a MAGA supporter.
Trump also attacked Meyers in early November, calling her “the least talented person.”

CRUZ WARNED CONSERVATIVES THEY ‘WILL REGRET’ FCC CENSORSHIP PRESSURE ON ABC AND OTHER MEDIA ORGANIZATIONS
“Why is NBC wasting its time and money on a guy like this??? – NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI-TRUMP, THIS IS POSSIBLY ILLEGAL!!!” Trump said.
The FCC and Meyers’ program did not immediately return a request for comment.
Meyers, who has hosted “Late Night” since 2014, satirizes Trump on his nightly show and often takes harsh looks at his administration in “Closer Look” segments.
Carr’s overtures against Kimmel include progressives as well as Sen. Rand Paul, R-KY. and You. It has also been roundly criticized by some conservatives, including Ted Cruz, R-Texas.

Paul criticized Carr’s comments as “totally inappropriate” and said the FCC commissioner “had no business being involved in this matter.” But the Kentucky senator warned that while people have the right to make controversial comments, they do not have employment rights.
Cruz said he disagreed with Kimmel and his remarks, but said at the time: “I’ll tell you what, if the government gets into the business of saying ‘we don’t like what you guys are saying in the media, we’re going to ban you from the airwaves,’ that’s going to end badly for conservatives.”
