Trump concedes defeat on Epstein files as he orders GOP to vote on releasing ALL materials while claiming there’s ‘nothing to hide’

Donald Trump reversed course and said the Republican Party should release files on late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Facing mounting pressure from his own party to release the Epstein documents, Trump eventually He approved the bill Sunday night.
“Republicans in the House should vote to release the Epstein files,” Trump said shortly after landing at Joint Base Andrews after a weekend in Florida.
‘We have nothing to hide and it is time to give up on this Democrat Fraud perpetrated by Radical Left Crazies to distract from the Great Success of the Republican Party.’
Trump noted that the Justice Department has already turned tens of thousands of pages about Epstein and could potentially investigate Democratic foes like Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman.
He wrote: ‘The House Oversight Committee can have whatever it is legally entitled to, I don’t care!’
Instead of discussing Epstein, Trump then listed his signature topics on the economy, immigration, foreign policy and the culture war.
“No one cared about Jeffrey Epstein when he was alive, and if the Democrats had anything going for them, they would have released him before our landslide election victory,” he said.
But Trump has not signaled an end to his feud with the bill’s Republican supporters, Thomas Massie and, most famously, Marjorie Taylor Greene.
As Donald Trump spoke to the press on the tarmac at Palm Beach International Airport on Sunday night, the president announced his support for the release of the Epstein files
Trump, who has previously called any attempt by either party to release the files a hoax by Democrats (a photo taken with Epstein in 1997), endorsed the bill on Sunday evening at Truth Social.
‘Some ‘members’ of the Republican Party are being ‘used’ and we cannot allow that. Let’s start talking about the Record Breaking Achievements of the Republican Party and not fall into the Epstein ‘trap’ which is actually a curse on the Democrats and not us. ‘MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!’
Trump later confirmed that he still believed it was a hoax, writing: ‘This is a Democrat Hoax for diversion, just like the Russia, Russia, Russia Scam!!! ‘They had sleazy dealings with Epstein and they need to be prosecuted!!!’
The president was reacting to a tweet from his and Epstein’s former lawyer, David Schoen: ‘If Jeffrey Epstein had any dirt on Donald Trump, he would have had great influence in the criminal case against him at the time of his death. Saying that he has absolutely nothing should otherwise dispel false allegations; But facts do not prevent political attacks.’
She also attacked Greene once again, continuing a weekend-long feud over the Georgia Congresswoman’s recent split from Trump on a variety of issues.
‘Crazy Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown (Remember, she goes Green Brown when it comes to ROT!) has been working overtime to try to portray herself as a victim, when in reality she’s the cause of all their problems. The truth is, no one cares about this Traitor!’
Trump publicly said he was done with Greene Friday and said he would support a challenger to her in 2026 “if the right person is the candidate.”
Greene described the conflict with Trump as “unfortunately, it all comes down to the Epstein files.” She said the country deserves transparency on this issue and that Trump’s criticism of her was confusing because the women she spoke to said Trump had done nothing wrong.
‘I have no idea what’s in the files. I can’t even guess. But that’s the question everyone is asking: Why should we fight it so hard?’ Greene said.

California Democrat Ro Khanna, who along with Massie filed a habeas petition in July to ensure a vote on the bill, applauded Trump’s decision.
‘Happy to see my bill with @RepThomasMassie has been fully approved by @realDonaldTrump. I believe that by standing on principle, Americans will have your back and the strongest will see the way. This is how we begin to heal the divide in our country. Release the Epstein files!’
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was a little more skeptical.
‘The vote is to force YOU to release them. Let’s make this easy. “Release the files immediately,” he wrote.
So far, none of the Republicans who publicly support the release of the files have commented, but Nancy Mace pointedly shared video of some of Epstein’s victims. persistently Congress to take action and publish all files regarding his crimes.
‘Shine a light into this darkness. Reveal it all. “I signed the discharge petition and will vote to release the Epstein files,” Mace wrote.
Democrats and some Republicans are pushing for a measure that would force the Justice Department to publicly release more documents related to the case.
The president’s change is a tacit acknowledgment that supporters of the measure have enough votes to pass the House of Representatives, even though it has an uncertain future in the Senate.
Trump’s relationship with Epstein is deep-rooted, and the president’s name appeared in records released by his own Justice Department in February as part of an effort to satisfy public interest in information from the sex-trafficking investigation. Republican Congressman Thomas Massie filed a habeas corpus petition in July to force a vote on the bill
The bill would force the Justice Department to release all files and communications related to Epstein, as well as any information related to the investigation into his death in federal prison.
It would allow redacting information about Epstein’s victims or ongoing federal investigations.
Massie, who was among lawmakers discussing the legislation on Sunday news shows, said Republicans “could get 100 votes or more.”
‘I expect to get a vetoable majority when this legislation comes to a vote.’
This is a rarely successful tool that allows a majority of members to bypass the House leadership and force a floor vote.
House Speaker Mike Johnson had thwarted the expungement petition effort and sent members home early for the August recess, at a time when the GOP’s legislative agenda was being upended by clamor for the Epstein vote.
Democrats also argue that newly elected Adelita Grijalva’s session was postponed to delay her becoming the 218th member to sign the petition and gain the threshold needed to force the vote.
It was their 218th signing moment after taking the oath of office last week.
Massie said Johnson, Trump and others who criticized his efforts “will take a big loss this week.”
“I’m not tired of winning yet, but we are winning,” Massie said.
On the Republican side, three members of the GOP signed the impeachment petition along with Massie: Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Nancy Mace of South Carolina and Lauren Boebert of Colorado.
Johnson appears to expect the House of Representatives to staunchly support the Epstein bill.
‘We will finish this job and move on. “There’s nothing to hide,” he said, adding that the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee released “far more information about the dismissal petition than their little gambit.”
The vote comes as new documents raise new questions about Epstein and his associates, including a 2019 email that Epstein wrote to a journalist saying Trump “knew about the girls.”
The White House accused Democrats of selectively leaking emails to smear the Republican president.
Johnson said Trump had ‘nothing to hide from this’.
‘They’re doing this to pursue the theory that President Trump had something to do with this. He doesn’t,’ Johnson said.
Trump’s relationship with Epstein is deep-rooted, and the president’s name appeared in records released by his own Justice Department in February as part of an effort to satisfy public interest in information from the sex-trafficking investigation.
The president has never been accused of wrongdoing in connection with Epstein, and the fact that someone is named in the investigative files does not imply otherwise.
Epstein, who committed suicide in prison while awaiting trial in 2019, had many well-known acquaintances in politics and celebrity circles, as well as Trump.
Even if the bill passes the House, there is no guarantee that Senate Republicans will agree. Massie said he hopes Senate Majority Leader John Thune “does the right thing.”
‘If we get a big vote in the House, the pressure will increase,’ said Massie, who thinks ‘we could be inundated with Republicans.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to Massie and Greene for comment.
