The mother-of-two, who has previously won four ‘Britain’s Strongest Woman’ awards, could be seen in footage visibly angry on stage when she took second place after being declared the winner of the competition.

However, in an update posted on Instagram by the Official Strongman Games channel, the organization stated that they were ‘unaware’ that Booker was biologically male before crowning him as the winner.

‘An athlete who was apparently biologically male and now identifies as female competed in the Women’s Open category. “Official Strongman officials were not aware of this fact prior to the competition, and since we were notified we have been conducting an urgent investigation,” they wrote.

‘An attempt was made to contact the relevant competitor, but no response was received.

‘If we had been aware of this or if this had been declared before or during the competition, this athlete would not have been allowed to compete in the Women’s Open category.

‘We are clear; Competitors may only compete in the category for the biological sex recorded at birth. Official Strongman is inclusive and proud to host events that do not discriminate against athletes based on personal characteristics.

‘You worked your ass off for this and I’m so proud of you. You absolutely mastered the deadlift, the log, and the circus dumbbell, and although there were still a few weak spots to work on, you were still the strongest woman of the day.

‘This win did not come without controversy, but I want to make it clear that while I support and applaud people for being who they want to be, sports are sports and women’s classes exist for a reason.’
