Trump Cozying Up To Pakistan – Will It Push India Closer To China? | World News

New Delhi: Last month, a meeting between former US President Donald Trump in Washington and Pakistan Field Marshal Asim Munir caused concern in New Delhi. Only days ago, a deadly terrorist attack in South Kashmir expensive had killed 26 innocent civilians. India blamed Pakistan after claiming a group of responsibilities of Lashkar-E-Taiba.

Foreign policy observers are now weighing a critical question: Can this renewed US-Pakistan participation disturb India’s fragile equation with China?

Beijing has served as a strategic common threat that connects India and the United States for years. Both countries see China as a geopolitical opponent and have stable cooperation to resist its influence. However, Trump’s warm decisions on China -backed Pakistan forces India to rethink his account.

Diplomatic experts say that India is not only possible to return to China on the basis of the Trump-Munir meeting. Movements to increase tensions with Beijing took action months ago. Nevertheless, it is difficult to ignore the impact of the meeting on the symbolism and India’s long -term strategy.

Michael Kugelman, the director of the South Asian Institute at Wilson Center in Washington DC, said the meeting should be seen in the light of the last Indian-Pakistan military flare during the Sindoor operation.

“India suddenly leans towards China because of Trump’s social assistance to Pakistan. However, the context is important, especially when Pakistan used Chinese weapons against India for the first time during this conflict,” he said.

The authority added that the uncertainty around the US-India ties under Trump is a great concern in the New Delhi. “There is no clear indication of how Trump plans to cope with China. From time to time he speaks hard, calls for cooperation in others. India is careful assuming that the US will always be compatible with its strategic interests over China.”

Kugelman said that this uncertainty is a reason for this uncertainty to protect his bets by stabilizing ties with Beijing.

A fine dissolution between India and China

Since October 2024, a diplomatic dissolution symptoms have emerged. Border troops on both sides began to withdraw from several glare points along the controversial real control line (LAC).

At the beginning of this month, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the SCO Foreign Ministers Summit and pointed to his first visit to Beijing in six years.

Direct commercial flights between India and China will continue. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which has been decorated for a long time, has been reopened for Indian pilgrims. With economic inferences, the government thinks that Niti Aayog proposes to allow Chinese equality up to 24% in Indian companies without a special permission.

Foreign policy commentator Indrani Bagchi believes that India is progressing carefully. “The government is trying to stabilize its relationship with China to some extent. We can see that some Chinese investments are flowing, but it is unlikely that it will go far beyond that,” he said.

He also warned Trump against excessive response to Pakistan decisions. “This Washington did not lean towards Islamabad for the first time. When the US-India ties, the confidence factor in the US-Indian ties get a stroke. If the United States continues to military aid to Pakistan, the red flags will certainly raise the new Delhi,” he added.

He also said that India is trying to diversify defense partnerships, gradually reducing dependence on Russia and trying to increase the supply from the United States. “If America uses Pakistan as a bridge to reach China, India will be forced to re -evaluate,” he added.

What is Beijing’s game?

Some former diplomats argue that China will probably respond carefully if India extends her hand, but will respond to the opening.

ACHAL Malhotra, a former ambassador, said that the foreign policy of the new Delhi was directed by realism, not to alignment. “Our relations with China stand in their own values. In our elections, it is cautious, but your sovereign. The United States knows this. Trump’s meeting with Munir is probably Pakistan’s geographical benefit in Afghanistan and Central Asia.

Strategic analyst Zakir Hussain argued that there was an inconsistency to drag India towards China. “The way Washington’s ties with India is a part of the new Delhi’s discovery of a less conflicting path with Beijing. Economically, some of India’s movements may reduce tensions. But let’s explain that China will never leave Pakistan for India.”
